A POOR LITTLE GIRL
Once, a rich lady, having no child of her own, decided, to adopt a girl child. For this, she gave advertisements in various newspapers. Many poor women came to sell their daughters to her. The rich lady gave some money to all girls and asked them to go to the market and buy their favourite things. .
On returning, all the girls showed the rich lady, the things they had bought. Most of them had bought ribbons, clothes and other things for themselves but one poor girl, her name was Lily had bought a prayer book and a needle.
The lady got impressed with the poor girl and adapted her saying that the girl really knew the essence of worship and hard work.
STEALING IS BAD
One day, Lily went to a grocery shop to buy bread. When she saw that the shopkeeper was busy with the other customers, she stole some toffees from a jar.
When she got back home, her mother asked her that where did she get the toffees? Lily told her mother the truth.
Her mother said, "It's really very bad to steal. The shopkeeper might not be looking at you but the God is always looking at you all the time. So, one should never steal."
Lily understood the words of her mother and went back to the shop to return the toffees to the shopkeeper.
The shopkeeper felt happy on seeing her honesty and gave her some toffees as a reward.
TIME IS VALUABLE
Lily was a very lazy girl and always used to postpone things. One day her father called him and made him understand the value of time that one should always do things on time. Lily promised her father that she would never postpone things.
One day, she came to know that she had won the first prize in a singing competition that was held the previous month. She was asked to collect the prize the same day. She didn't care and went to collect the prize the next day. But the prize became useless for her, as it was a ticket to a circus show, which was held the previous day.
Lily learnt a lesson from this incident.
Gift from Daughter
The story goes that some time ago, a man punished his 3-year-old daughter Lily for wasting a roll of gold wrapping paper. Money was tight and he became infuriated when the child tried to decorate a box to put under the Christmas tree. Nevertheless, the little girl brought the gift to her father the next morning and said, “This is for you, Daddy."
The man was embarrassed by his earlier overreaction, but his anger flared again when he found out the box was empty. He yelled at her, stating, “Don't you know, when you give someone a present, there is supposed to be something inside? Lily looked up at him with tears in her eyes and cried, “Oh, Daddy, it's not empty at all. I blew kisses into the box. They're all for you, Daddy."
The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little girl, and he begged for her forgiveness.
Only a short time later, an accident took the life of the child. It is also told that her father kept that gold box by his bed for many years and, whenever he was discouraged, he would take out an imaginary kiss and remember the love of the child who had put it there.
Moral: In a very real sense, each one of us, as humans beings, have been given a gold container filled with unconditional love from our children, family members, friends, and God. There is simply no other possession, anyone could hold, more precious than this.
WAYS TO CUT DOWN WEIGHT
Lily was fed up of his increasing weight. All the time he kept thinking of the ways to reduce his weight.
One day she went to a shopkeeper and said, "I have come to know about a book that tells how to reduce weight. Please give me a copy of that book."
The shopkeeper said, "Dear, the last copy of that book got sold just a few minutes back. But I have another book that tells how to gain weight."
Lily said, "I don't need that. I want to reduce weight, not increase it."
The shopkeeper replied, " So what? Just do the reverse of what is written in the book."
